FAQ

Experience all you need to know about the GelActiv™ Insoles.

1. When should I use an insole?

Scholl GelActiv insoles are made for tired feet. They offer amazing comfort. For casual shoes, trainers or flats used for walking or daily activities use the Everyday GelActiv insoles, for sport activities use the Sport GelActiv insoles and if there is excessive pressure being put on your feet for a long period use the Work GelActiv insoles.

2. Why is Scholl offering insoles?

When you stand, walk or perform other activities with your feet, these can get tired over a long time. Scholl is offering insoles to improve the comfort in your shoes and provide non-stop cushioning. The Scholl GelActiv™ insoles are made for individual needs of daily activities, leisure sports and everyday work. The GelActiv™ technology absorbs micro shocks and helps reduce excessive pressure of walking.

3. Why are there different types of gel in the Everyday insole?

The dual gel effectively absorbs micro shocks and helps reduce excessive pressure of walking or daily activities. The firmer gel provides arch and heel support and softer gel gives superior cushioning and shock absorption. Moreover, the anatomical form of the GelActiv™ insoles ensures an excellent wearing comfort

4. Are the insoles also suited for children?

There is no age limit for the use of GelActiv™ insoles. However the insoles are intended for full-grown people of adult age and should not be used in shoes that are smaller than the size guide on the insoles indicate, so that cushioning occurs in the right parts of the foot.

5. Can I cut the insoles smaller, for example for shoe size 4?

Please refer to question Q11: “Can I break something by cutting the insoles?”

6. What material is the Gel made of?

The gel is made of a thermoplastic elastomer that is used in a wide variety of products including insoles.

7. What is the difference to orthopaedic/orthotic insoles? Are these insoles also effective from and orthopaedic/orthotic point of view?

Orthopaedic and orthotic insoles are designed, among other aspects, for compensation of foot pathologies/position issues and the correction of false posture. They help to control or change the way your foot works, and can add support and relieve foot pain. As a rule they are recommended by an expert and often tailored to suit the exact shape of your foot.

Scholl GelActiv™ insoles offer non-stop comfort all day long and are not to be confused with orthopaedic or orthotic insoles. If you are reliant on orthopaedic or orthotic insoles we recommend wearing them instead.

8. Are the Scholl GelActiv™ Work insoles breathable?

The Work insoles were designed with holes in the forefoot that could help provide some ventilation, however this depends on the type of shoe you are using with insoles.

9. Will my feet smell when using GelActiv™ insoles?

The usage of GelActiv™ insoles should not have an impact on foot smell.

10. Who can use the insoles and which shoe size are they made for?

The insoles are offered for men and women. The only difference is the size. The insoles for women are fitting for shoe size 3 to 7.5. The insoles for men are fitting for shoe size 42 to 48. The Scholl GelActiv insoles are to cut to size. Please use the cutting guide to match the insoles to the different shoe sizes.

11. Can I break something by cutting the insoles?

When cutting, use sharp scissors to ensure that there is no frazzling of the edge. The insoles will not be damaged when cutting is done carefully. Cut along the outline on the outside of the line first to prevent the insole being too small (as some shoes will vary slightly from their stated size). The insole can then be further trimmed to fit.

12. How can one insole fit for different shoe sizes?

The Scholl GelActiv insoles are to cut to size. You can cut along the outlines to match the insoles to the different shoe sizes. Detailed instructions on how to cut the insoles can be found on the inside of the packaging or on the website www.scholl.co.uk

13. How do I put the insole in the shoe?

Place Scholl GelActiv insoles with the gel side down within your shoes.

14. Is there a difference between insoles for men and for women?

The only difference is the size. That means if you are a woman who needs a bigger size you can use insoles for men, if you are a man who needs a smaller size you can use insoles for women.

15. What kind of shoes are the insoles made for? Can I switch one pair of insoles between two different shoes?

The Everyday insoles are made for everyday shoes, the Sport insoles are made for trainers and the Work insoles are made for work boots. Of course you can switch one pair of insoles between different shoes.

16. Are the insoles also suited for summer and winter shoes?

The Scholl GelActiv™ insoles are also suited for use in summer as well as in winter shoes.

17. Can the insoles be worn without socks?

The insoles can be worn without socks. But we recommend wearing socks or hosiery to prevent the feet from getting sweaty.

18. Can the insoles be worn with orthopaedic/orthotic insoles?

If you are reliant on orthopaedic or orthotic insoles we recommend wearing them instead. The Scholl GelActiv™ insoles are not made for compensation of foot malposition but to improve the comfort in your shoes and they should not be worn at the same time.

19. Can the colour of the insoles transfer into my shoes if they are humid by sweat?

The Scholl GelActiv™ insoles are produced according to a high quality standard and we don’t expect the colour of insoles to transfer into your shoes.

20. How can I dry the insoles if they are humid?

If the Scholl GelActiv™ insoles are humid, we recommend to remove them from the shoe and to air them in a dry room. If the insoles are damaged by humidity, we recommend not using them further.

21. Can I wash the insoles?

The insoles are not machine-washable. To clean your insole, simply wipe the insoles with a warm soapy cloth (do not soak). Dry them before putting them back into the shoes.

22. How long will my insoles last?

Replace the insoles when showing signs of wear. Replacement every 4-6 months is recommended.

23. Where can I buy the insoles?

The Scholl GelActiv™ insoles are offered in groceries, health and beauty retailers, pharmacies and online shops.
